Swiss Raid Houses in EADS Probe - Corruption Currents - WSJ

Switzerland’s attorney general’s office confirmed Tuesday that it searched properties in the country on behalf of its Austrian counterpart, which is investigating alleged corruption involving the sale of Eurofighter jets made by European Aeronautic & Space Co.

The office, based in Bern, said to Dow Jones Newswires that it “instructed federal police to conduct several house searches in Switzerland at the request of Austrian prosecutors,” but spokeswoman Jeannette Balmer declined to comment further.

Austrian financial daily Wirtschaftsblatt reported last week that the case concerns possible bribes tied to Austria’s purchase of Eurofighter jets from EADS, the Newswires report said.

EADS confirmed a probe last week and told Newswires that prosecutors searched three sites in Munich.
