Iranian Man Convicted of Drug Trafficking to Aid Terrorism - Corruption Currents - WSJ

An Iranian drug broker was convicted of conspiring to import heroin into the U.S. as part of an undercover sting by U.S. officials.

Siavosh Henareh was convicted Tuesday in Manhattan federal court after prosecutors accused him of agreeing to arrange for the import of hundreds of kilograms of high-quality heroin into the U.S., the proceeds of which would go toward arming Hezbollah, a U.S.-designated foreign terror organization.

Henareh, who was arrested in Romania, was one of several defendants charged after being caught up in a sting by confidential informants posing as associates of Hezbollah and the Taliban.  Two of his co-defendants pleaded guilty in the case, prosecutors said.
