The U.S. Treasury said Tuesday it placed two senior leaders of the Congolese militant group M23 under sanctions.
Treasury slapped sanctions on Baudoin Ngaruye and Innocent Kaina for their involvement in the recruitment and use of child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ngaruye was also designated for targeting children, and for killing, maiming and committing sexually violent acts against them, Treasury said.
